The historic nature of our building poses some challenges in complying with the Equality Act 2010.
Our building is over 300 years old, is listed and is built on several levels – presenting us with some unique difficulties as we strive for accessibility. We will continue to try to push boundaries and we are exploring partnerships with local businesses to enhance our overall guest experience, offering exclusive benefits and curated events that cater to our diverse clientele.
Antonio’s is committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all guests. We believe everyone deserves to enjoy our food and hospitality, regardless of their abilities. This commitment has led us to make meaningful accessibility improvements throughout our restaurant.
PRESERVING HISTORY: As custodians of a 300 year old building, we are committed to preserving its historic character, while balancing this with the need for the modern accessibility features our clients deserve.
STRUCTURAL LIMITATIONS: The limitations of an historic building present unique challenges for implementing certain types of accessibility improvements.
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS: We have worked diligently to find creative solutions that meet accessibility needs whilst preserving the building’s historic integrity.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS: Due to space limitations, wheelchair access inside the restaurant is restricted. However, our outside dining area is fully accessible. We do not currently have a wheelchair accessible toilet.
ACCOMMODATING REQUESTS: We always aim to accommodate any special requests, please visit us and discuss your needs – we’ll do our very best to meet them.
Over the next year, we will implement several initiatives to address the needs of customers with accessibility requirements. These initiatives will include sensory adaptations, a Braille menu and dementia respite sittings.
